Guthrie’s

Design Innovation Architects (DIA) was called upon to design a new foodservice facility for Guthrie’s Restaurant, located on the corner of Cumberland Avenue and 22nd Street in Knoxville, Tennessee. One of the challenges of this design was limited property size. The 2,000-square-foot building was oriented to create outdoor dining spaces facing both streets, with the drive-through window and parking located away from the street, thus screening it from the pedestrian sidewalks.

The design was planned to reinforce the pedestrian scale and environment of Cumberland Avenue while providing for parking and other necessary utilitarian facilities.
